[menog] RE: Menog Digest, Vol 17, Issue 11

Hello Kiyam,

I don't know how deep you want to commit yourself in negotiating segment space with other provider or if you want to be fully involved in the technicalities of these aspect, and that's why I suggest you to contact Globecomm Systems Inc. which will be able to open a project case for you and handle it professionally till delivery; you just relax while they get the job done for you and get trained!

If you need more details let me know.

Best regards,

Ahmad

Bear in mind that you can only talk to an end-station through a single
satellite if both you and the end-station are within the footprint of
the satellite you're using.

You may find that there are some global beams which stretch as far as
the east coast of North America on the western extent and Iraq to the
east, but you probably have more options if you look for partners in
Europe.

Any of the major satellite operators ought to be able to assist in
exploring the options if you talk to them, although you will probably
need to tolerate some marketing and sales.

Have you considered Satellite to Kuwait or Saudi? Might be cheaper and better performance...

I suggest you talk to STC for spare capacity and Intelsat. 7 months ago they ran out but... Worth seeing if something has freed up now. Unlikely but possible. The only other options is Iraq to Kuwait fibre... Is that an option for you to use?

Fahad.

Dear Mr. Fahad,
I thank you for your quick answer, but we have no fiber option.
with regards to consider KSA and UAE, I have only one objection which is transparency, that means we offer unrestricted internet accesss
without monitoring and limitation, that’s how we survive on the Iraqi market as every customer is fed up with limitations.

Not UAE. They don't have any spare satellite capacity either. SAudi. And you have no worries in censorship or proxy. That is only for 'in-country' access not for international clients. But your best bet is either Intelsat or the Russians. See who has transponder capacity free.

Fahad.

Dear Mr. Fahad,

to make things more clear, I am from a telco background and I know the
principals of toll bypass as well as LCR. when I come to the MENOG (which
was my first visit and most important visit) I realized that the same
principal can be applied on IP traffic.

so what I am going to do and am looking for is to have 4-6 dishes in Iraq,
that connect us to each continent over the shortest (cheapest) path. I want
to buy as little transit services as possible. that why I want to replace
our current 120mbps main link with multiple VSAT links to achieve redundancy
and LCR.

this is the real reason behind all this conversation and I am very happy
with the responses I receive, as I can see a community helping each other.

this MENOG thing is really a nice idea.

Thank you
