Batelco fined for FALCON obstruction

MENAFN reports that Bahrain Telecom (Batelco) has been fined USD13.3
million by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) for
preventing rival local operators from directly accessing the FALCON
international submarine cable. Batelco is obliged to provide
installation, operation and maintenance facilities for operators wishing
to access the cable, but the TRA said that the telco had failed to
fulfil all its commitments.
