Deloitte and estimates that countries stand to lose between 0.4 and 1.9% of
daily GDP for every day they block access to online services.

Importantly, the report sets out a framework for measuring the economic
impact of shutdowns based on levels of connectivity in a country and by
population. 

We believe this will be an important tool for advocacy organizations around
the world working to keep the Internet open and free. We hope this will spur
more research on the real costs of denying access to all types of
communications platforms.
