[menog] Call for MENOG 20 Organising Committee Volunteers

Dear Colleagues,

The Middle East Network Operator Group Meeting & Peering Forum is the largest, non-commercial, technical, educational and community-oriented event in the Middle East. The annual event brings together key Internet industry players from the region and all over the globe to discuss core operational issues, share knowledge and expertise and to identify areas for regional cooperation.

The five-day event includes three days of capacity building workshops, two days of plenary sessions and several side activities. The event aims to improve the Internet resilience, scalability, security and interconnection in the region.


After a review by the MENOG team of the current workload for these events the team decided to divided the responsibilities among the following groups:
MENOG Organising Committee: (New)

MENOG OC is responsible for the overall planning and management of the event.

MENOG Programme Committee:

MENOG PC is responsible for the agenda development for the two plenary days.

MENOG Secretariat:

The MENOG Sec is responsible for the overall administrative, organisational and logistical support for the event. 

The RIPE NCC currently holds the MENOG Secretariat function.



MENOG Organising Committee (OC) Responsibilities:

MENOG OC is responsible for the overall planning and management of the event.

The MENOG OC comprises of seven seats. Each seat on the MENOG OC will be responsible and accountable for one of the willing meeting functions:

·      Seat 1: Treasurer

This seat is reserved for a community member that will be responsible for working with the MENOG Secretariat on all financial aspects of the event including sponsorships, budgeting, training partners. This seat will be responsible to make sure that the event runs optimally within the available budget. 

·      Seat 2: Fellowship

This seat is reserved for a community member that will be responsible for working with the MENOG Secretariat on all aspects related to the fellowship program including selection, liaising and onsite mentoring.  This seat will be responsible to make sure that the fellowship program provides the best value to the fellows and the event. 

·      Seat 3: Capacity Building

This seat is reserved for a community member that will be responsible for working with the MENOG Secretariat and the training partners on delivering on the MENOG roadshows and capacity building activities (such as day zero sessions) during the event and throughout the year. 

·      Seat 4: Social Media and Community Engagement

This seat is reserved for a community member that will be responsible for planning, implementing and monitoring the event’s social media, mailing list and community engagement in order to increase participation and awareness.

·      Seat 5: Local Host

This seat is reserved for the upcoming MENOG event local host to share any local insights and perspectives to the MENOG OC members.

·      Seat 6: MENOG PC

This seat is reserved for the MENOG PC (chair or Co-chair) to relay back the agenda building progress to the MENOG OC members.

·      Seat 7: MENOG Secretariat

This seat is reserved for the MENOG Secretariat to relay back the event coordination progress and future actions that require attention from MENOG OC members.



 Selection and renewal

If you meet the above requirements and are willing to commit your expertise and energy to the work of the MENOG 20 OC, please send an email and tell us about yourself and your motivation to:  <menog at ripe.net <mailto:menog at ripe.net>>

The Email must clearly state in the subject which OC seat you are looking to apply to and your qualifications for filling the seat. (You can apply for one seat only.)

As this is the first year we are reinstating the MENOG OC a selection committee from existing MENOG team members will review the and select the candidates entered in joining the OC.

Once the OC is in place they will be tasked and trusted to develop a renewal model for the OC and publish it with the updated governance document.

The Email must clearly state in the subject which OC seat you are looking to apply to and you can apply for one seat only.

Please do this no later than 12/12/ 2019.
