[menog] The RIPE NCC throws light on the current state of Internet in the GCC Countries, Yemen and Iraq

Dear friends and colleagues, 

The RIPE NCC previously published a series of Internet country reports. The latest report produced by the RIPE NCC in this series examines the Internet landscape in the following countries: Bahrain, Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen, as part of an ongoing effort to support Internet development through our service region by making our data and insights available to local technical communities and decision-makers. 

The report gives a detailed outlook on the market development, infrastructure, and Internet routing within the Gulf region as well as the available Internet address resources. The analyses and results are based on data collected by the RIPE NCC measurements tools and a few external data sources.  

The report reaches several conclusions on what is needed in the region from a technical and regulatory standpoint in order to facilitate Internet development and future growth as the full potential of a healthy, competitive digital landscape cannot be fully realised until a number of developments take place.

أصدرت منظمة "رايب أن. سي. سي" (RIPE NCC) التقرير الإقليمي للإنترنت لدول مجلس التعاون الخليجي واليمن والعراق في نسخته العربية، وذلك ضمن سلسلة من التقارير الخاصة بحالة شبكة الإنترنت في منطقة خدماتها. ويركّز التقرير الحديث الصادر مؤخراً على رصد واقع الإنترنت في 8 دول في منطقة الخليج، مستعرضاً الفرص والتحديات في في كل من البحرين والعراق والكويت وسلطنة عُمان وقطر والمملكة العربية السعودية ودولة الإمارات واليمن، وذلك في إطار الجهود الحثيثة لدعم مسيرة تطوير شبكات الإنترنت ضمن منطقة خدمات المنظمة، من خلال تسهيل تبادل المعلومات وأفضل الممارسات وجعل بيانات المنظمة متاحة لكافة المجتمعات وراسمي السياسات وصناع القرار والجهات المعنية.

ويستعرض التقرير مدى تطوّر الأسواق والبنية التحتية وتوجيه الإنترنت في المنطقة، بالإضافة إلى موارد عناوين الإنترنت المتاحة. وتستند النتائج والتحليلات الواردة في التقرير إلى البيانات والمقاييس المستخرجة من أدوات القياس الخاصة بمنظمة "رايب أن.سي.سي"، إلى جانب عدد محدود من مصادر المعلومات الخارجية.

ويطرح التقرير استنتاجات عدة حول متطلّبات المنطقة من الناحيتين التقنية والتنظيمية من أجل تسهيل وتسريع مسيرة تطوير ونمو الإنترنت في المستقبل للوصول إلى الإمكانات الكاملة لواقع رقمي سليم وتنافسي. ولذلك، على مقدمي الخدمات الحصول على موارد أرقام الإنترنت لتلبية احتياجات السوق، وحماية تلك الموارد باستخدام أفضل الممارسات في مجال أمن توجيه الانترنت، ونشر الإصدار السادس من بروتوكول عناوين الإنترنت من أجل استيعاب النمو المستقبلي، وتعزيز الاتصال المحلي والدولي وبناء بيئة ربط شبكي سليمة تتضمن التشبيك في نقاط تبادل الإنترنت في المنطقة كما تحتاج الحكومات إلى التكيف مع هذه البيئة المتغيرة من خلال سياسات تنظيم مفتوحة ومرنة تدعم النمو.
