Your comment has been noted Tom. We will consider this for the next event.

As a couple of side notes, the 1st ME DNS Forum took place in Dubai early February. On the other hand, MENOG holds 2 annual meetings with the first being in Dubai sometime in March. This year’s MENOG took place right after the ICANN meeting in Singapore. If we are to have the ME DNS Forum around MENOG, the forum ends up being in Dubai every year, and this does not satisfy the idea of rotating it around the region. Another concern would be to have the forum right after an ICANN meeting (which would be very challenging for various logistical reasons).

+1 to Mehmet's comments here. Joining the two events will broaden audience and international visitors too.

Hello there,

Is it possible to have this meeting adjunct with another event (next day or before the other event) that's taking place in Middle East, such as MENOG? It helps lots of people who are willing to travel to justify their travel and makes it totally worth it.

In general, I would love to see this as part of MENOG program, I think there are lots of opportunity to collaborate here.

Friends and Colleagues,

As part of ICANN’s engagement in the Middle East, the Middle East Strategy Working Group (MESWG) identified having a Middle East DNS Forum on annual basis as key priority towards developing the domain name industry in the region.

In February 2014, Dubai hosted the first Middle East DNS Forum. The proceedings of the forum expanded over two days and covered many interesting topics related to domain name Registries, Registrars, and Registrants. The forum was by far a success as it exceeded the expectations of many; including its organizers.

ME DNS Forum Program Committee

One recommendation that came out of the Dubai meeting was to have a Program Committee (ME-DNS-PC) to prepare for future annual forums, and this includes developing a robust agenda for the meeting, and securing the right set of moderators, facilitators, and speakers/panelists for the different sessions.

Call for Volunteers

This is a call for interested experts and relevant stakeholders to apply for one of the vacancies of the ME-DNS-PC. Interested candidates are expected to:

·         Serve with no financial compensation incurred;

·         Attend teleconference calls when needed;

· Have expertise in one or more of the following:

o   DNS Registry and Registrar Operations;

o   Domain Name Marketing and Business Development;

o   DNS Protocols and Technologies, including DNSSEC, IPv6, IDNs, etc.;

o   DNS Security, Stability, and Resiliency;

o Expertise in event planning and agenda development; and

o   Strong network of contacts.

·         Serve for a term specified by the governance structure that shall be developed by the inaugural ME-DNS-PC;

· Devote adequate time especially around the forum’s dates; and

· Travel to attend the forum and possibly PC face-to-face meetings.

Those who have the time and expertise to be part of the ME-DNS-PC are requested to submit an application (attached) along with their Resume/CV to <mailto:meswg at icann.org> meswg at icann.org.

Thank you,

Baher Esmat and Fahd Batayneh
